Overview of barcode scanner

When contacting barcode scanning gun, we often encounter many difficult technical terms, such as optical resolution (optical resolution), maximum resolution (maximum resolution), color resolution (color depth), scanning mode, interface mode (connection interface), etc. Now let's introduce the basic knowledge of these barcode scanning guns, so that we can have a better understanding of barcode scanning guns, which can also be used as a reference when we buy barcode scanning guns. In fact, barcode scanner, barcode scanning gun and barcode reader are the same thing, but they are called differently. Barcode scanner type:

Handheld barcode scanner. Handheld barcode scanner is a product formed by the technology introduced in 1987. It looks like the barcode scanner used by the cashier in the supermarket. CIS technology is used in most of the holding barcode scanners. The optical resolution is 200dpi. There are black and white, gray and color types, of which the color type is generally 18 bit color. Some high-end products also use CCD as a photosensitive device, which can realize bit true color with good scanning effect.

Small roller barcode scanner. This is the intermediate product of handheld barcode scanner and desktop barcode scanner (there are new products in recent years, known as notebook barcode scanner because of its built-in power supply and small size). The vast majority of this product adopts CIS technology, with optical resolution of 300dpi, color and grayscale, and the color model is generally 24 bit color. There are also a few small roller barcode scanners using CCD technology, the scanning effect is significantly better than CIS technology products, but due to structural limitations, the volume is generally significantly larger than CIS technology products. The design of the small roller type is to fix the lens of the barcode scanner, and move the object to be scanned through the lens to scan. In operation, like a printer, the object to be scanned must pass through the machine and then be sent out. Therefore, the object to be scanned cannot be too thick. The biggest advantage of this barcode scanner is that it is very small, but it has many limitations due to its use. For example, it can only scan thin paper, and the range can not exceed the size of the barcode scanner.

Platform barcode scanner. Also known as flat barcode scanner and desktop barcode scanner, most of the barcode scanners on the market are flat barcode scanners, which are the mainstream now. The optical resolution of this kind of barcode scanner ranges from 300dpi to 8000dpi, the color bits range from 24 to 48, and the scanning format is generally A4 or A3. The advantage of flat type is that as long as the cover of the barcode scanner is opened, books, newspapers, magazines and photo negatives can be put up for scanning, which is quite convenient, and the scanning effect is the best of all common types of barcode scanners.

There are also large noodle code scanners, pen barcode scanners, negative barcode scanners for large format scanning (note that flat barcode scanners do not add through scanning, so the effect is much better, and the price is of course expensive), physical barcode scanners (not flat barcode scanners with physical scanning ability, a bit similar to digital cameras), There are also many roller barcode scanners mainly used in the field of printing and typesetting.
